Sigla

by Lotta Wennäkoski

Concerto for harp and orchestra

Description

The harp concerto Sigla was inspired by an excursion into timbre and by the phenomenal virtuosity and strength of the soloist Sivan Magen – I conceived the solo part in close collaboration with him. The
harp in this work is the starter engine that ignites the colours of the
orchestra. The title Sigla refers to different things in different
languages. In Italian it refers to a jingle, whereas in Icelandic it is
the verb ‘to sail’. In Tagalog it means ‘liveliness’ and ‘enthusiasm’.
