Description

Rimpi is a bass clarinet solo miniature written for Petra
Stump-Linshalm, with whom I’ve had the pleasure to cooperate for a long
time already. I started composing Rimpi with material from my duo Rimbalzi
(2021) for bass clarinet and percussion, and the bouncing character in
the beginning of the duo indeed found its way to end of the solo. This
time, however, it is rather sinking, heavy steps that lead to this
lighter bouncing – the title is Finnish for a wet, sinking spot in a
swamp.
