mandala no. 2 for solo piano
Description
Rain/Fall is a short work intended as a tribute to a close family friend whose sudden death in 2002 left a deep mark on many people I hold dear. At a loss for words in the face of the abruptness and violence of his passing, the only expression I found appropriate was a gentle, quasi-random scattering of notes, drifting slowly toward sublimation.
*Note: This piece is included in Leaves of Grass, Book I as Lingering last drops. However, it may be performed separately, or as an addendum to the violin sonata A river to fill the silence, under the present title.
