Description

Liebelei was commissioned by the Time of Music Festival in Viitasaari and premiered in summer 2001 by the NYYD Ensemble, Olari Elts as a conductor. In Liebelei I wanted to express a "life is short, let us rejoice" attitude. I also had in my mind the beauty and shadows of the films directed by Max Ophuls. The name Liebelei derives from one of them.
