Jardin secret II

Description

An important element of Jardin secret II is the relationship between instrument and tape, and thus, for example, interpretations of various rhythmic transformations both on a computer and as the result of human playing. Unlike Jardin secret I, where the tape material was produced completely synthetically, Jardin secret II uses only concrete sound material (the sound of the harpsichord and my own voice).

These sounds were fed into a computer and processed first at the Groupe de Recherche Musicale (GRM) studio and then at Ircam, where some of the material was given rhythmic shape using my Formes system programs.

Si Jardin secret I était fondé sur le travail du timbre, Jardin secret II est plutôt dédié au rythme. Le premier volet du cycle est réalisé à partir de sons de synthèse, tandis que, dans le deuxième, le traitement est fait avec des sons concrets (clavecin et voix du compositeur). Le matériau a été traité dans le studio du GRM à Paris, et le contour rythmique a été effectué à l'Ircam avec le programme Formes.
