Cascades for eight players was commissioned by the Spanish Camerata Antonio Soler and its chief Gustavo Sánchez to a master class held by maestro Jorma Panula at July 2016 in San Lorenzo de El Escorial to have its world première there.
The orchestration was chosen in relation to the other program during the master class. In the wind quintet the clarinetist uses the bass clarinet throughout the piece, and there are also three string players, violin, cello and double bass.
The name takes us with its many meanings to streams with peaceful slacks. So does this about ten minute fantasy proceed finding a bit of fuga substance towards its end.I have started to call my style ”neo-this-and-that” because I don’t want to define the contents of my toy box too clearly neither romantic nor classical.
