Description
The about 17 minutes long work has been written to the KallaQuartet from Kuopio and presents three parts of different kinds. In all each player has an equally significant role. This is really a flute quartet where the task of the flute player is not comparable with that of the primas’s in a string quartet but giving a special colour to the combination of three string instruments.
The name is playfully hinting to a three-dimensional musical experience through the works’ different characters.
I gather musical influences as a composer and the clearest ones are the Russian shades from the former century in the middle section’s slow waltz. I have for a long time called my style with the term ”neo-this-and-that”.

Kuopiolaiselle KallaKvartetille tehty teos on noin 17-minuuttinen, kolmeen erilaiseen osaan jakautuva sävellys, jossa jokaisella soittajalla on yhtä merkittävä rooli. Tämä on nimenomaan huilukvartetto, eli huilun tehtävä ei ole verrattavissa jousikvarteton primakseen, vaan huilu tuo kolmen jousisoittimen yhdistelmään aivan oman värinsä.
Nimi viittaa leikillisesti musiikilliseen kolmiulotteisuuteen, tässä ehkä juuri teoksen kolmen karakteerin kautta.
Säveltäjänä imen itseeni vaikutteita, ja niistä selkeimpinä erottuvat viime vuosisadan venäläiset sävyt keskiosan hitaassa valssijaksossa. Tyyliäni olen pitkään kutsunut termillä ”uus-sitä-suntätä”.
