Kalevi Aho
19 Preludes for piano
Description
The 19 Preludes are from the period before Aho had started his official studies of either of composition or of the piano. They offer a unique vantage point to Kalevi Aho's early years; impressive works by a musical prodigy, who had taught himself to compose and to play the piano. The Preludes are written as practice pieces for his own use, inspired in part by Chopin, in part of the idea of 24 preludes as a set. They display a characteristic fascination with the virtuosic and technically brilliant side of music-making.
