Sanna Ahvenjärvi

Sanna Ahvenjärvi describes her work as tending “to be characterised by emotional catharsis, comfort and an almost therapeutic vibe”. Her output includes both chamber music and orchestra works as well as a chamber opera. She is also a composition teacher specialised in children and young.

An important side of her work as a composer is co-composing with her husband Tapio Lappalainen, a quite rare thing in classical art music. Their Water for symphony orchestra won the Teosto prize in 2023.
