Viime vuonna [1995] Rakkautta ja anarkiaa -viikolla festivaalijärjestäjät pyysivät minua säveltämään fanfaarin seuraavan festivaalin avajaisiin. He kertoivat tästä tilauksestaan keskustelutilaisuudessa, jonka esiintyjinä olivat hellänkarkeita homoelokuvia tekevä Bruce La Bruce ja legendaarinen underground-näyttelijä ja beat-runoilija, kaikkien kipeilijöiden kuningatar Taylor Mead. Minulta kysyttiin, tuleeko fanfaarini olemaan näiden herrojen innoittama; vastasin että ilman muuta. Myöhemmin illalla tapasin ravintolassa erään hanuristituttavani, joka oli ollut kuuntelemassa Brucea ja Meadia. Hän hymyili merkityksellisesti ja sanoi: "Kai ymmärrät, mille instrumenteille fanfaarisi tulee säveltää?"

What’s a Nice Chord Like You Doing in a Piece Like This? was composed for the 1996 Love and Anarchy Film Festival. It was performed at the opening club, during a press conference and at the beginning of the first films. The audience was surrounded by no less than five accordions. However, the question presented in the title can just easily be answered with three instruments: "I am wandering and meeting other nice chords."
The piece is dedicated to Taylor Mead, the incontestable queen of underground movies.

What’s a Nice Chord Like You Doing in a Piece Like This? syntyi Rakkautta ja anarkiaa -festivaalin 1996 tilauksesta. Se esitettiin elokuvapäivien avajaisklubilla, lehdistötilaisuudessa ja ensimmäisten elokuvien alussa. Alkuperäisversiossa yleisöä ympäröi peräti viisi hanuria. Triosovituksessakin vastaus otsikon kysymykseen kuuluu: "Lähden kiertelemään ja tapaan muita kauniita sointuja."
Harmonikkatrioni on omistettu Taylor Meadille, underground-elokuvan kiistattomalle kuningattarelle.
