Vers la mer / Merta kohti was written for Meren vuoksi (Tampere Biennale 2026, other composers Tiina Myllärinen, Lotta Wennäkoski).

The water theme refers to a phenomenon in northern France where the tides change at a certain time; people and other living creatures are able to sense the change before it happens, which is an interesting pre-reflective ability. The work also has an ecological dimension.

Another important theme is the relationship between different generations and their coexistence over time.
