Aventures plaisantes pour Grand Orchestre

Description

This work is evocative of Richard Strauss, and especially the symphonic poem Till Eulenspiegel, both in its choice of subject (Don Quijote) and its music. It is a short suite of seven movements coloured by an airy playfulness and humour. Some have even described it as being “somewhat on the light side”, and in this respect it lacks the modernistic vision of most of his works.

Un chevalier sans peur et sans reproche (Ritari peloton ja nuhteeton) liittyy sekä Don Quijote -aiheeltaan että musiikiltaan Richard Straussiin, jonka sinfonista runoa Till Eulenspiegel voi pitää Pingoud'n teoksen lähimpänä vertailukohtana. Kyseessä on lyhyt seitsenosainen sarja, jota värittää ilmava leikkisyys ja humoristisuus. Teosta on jopa luonnehdittu "viihdemusiikkiin kallistuvaksi", ja tässä suhteessa se poikkeaa useimpien Pingoud'n teosten modernistisesta visionäärisyydestä.
