Ubsu Nur

Music Finland

Ubsu Nur is a solo composition inspired by Tuvan throat song. Tuvan throat singers are able to produce simple two-part music, in which the slowly unfolding melody is accompanied by the overtone octave or fifth. The tuning of the string instruments enables related harmonic ideas, as an example, pedals. The musical form of Ubsu Nur is based on constant variation of speech-like phrases on a limited melodic range.
