Description

"Stratactive is my first work for orchestra. In the focus of my interest was the closing of a musical unit in hierarchically different levels. Thus, the orchestral texture is mostly consisted of several independent textural layers closing at different time-points. The inner structure of each of these layers is almost the same as the structure of the whole piece, but in a different scale of course. The name of the piece is made of two words: strata and active, which together means active layers = active strata."

"Stratactive on ensimmäinen teokseni orkesterille. Kiinnostukseni polttopisteessä oli musiikillisten yksiköiden sulkeutuminen eri hierarkiatasoilla. Orkesterisatsi sisältää useita päällekkäisiä, eri aikaan sulkeutuvia tekstuurikerroksia, joiden sisäinen aikarakenne noudattelee pienessä mittakaavassa koko teoksen muotorakennetta. Teoksen nimi tulee sanoista strata ja active, jolloin ne yhdistettynä saavat merkityksen aktiiviset kerrokset. 15 minuutin kestoon mahtuu 10erimittaista ja globaaleilta ominaisuuksiltaan erilaista taitetta."
