Description
One can read the title Smash!t in a variety of ways. Perhaps at first glimpse, you might see the title as “smash it”. In the beginning, we hear an explosive alarm from a construction site and, later, the sound of the crushing of cans. Can you hear a “hit”? Will the music change into “ash”? I wonder what the abbreviation “sm” refers to? It’s always good to remember the advice from William Faulkner; “kill your darlings”. Could “Smash! T(omi)” mean that? Finally, the audience’s job is to decide if this work is a genuine “smash hit” or just pure “sh!t”. TR, 2016
