Description
The work is based on two poems written by the composer. The first text (in Spanish) is dramatic and expressive, whereas the second one (in English) is lighter and onomatopoetic. The latter one is merely based on the phonetics of different letters and syllables. The composition was inspired by the opposite characteristics of an ocean: although its surface may be calm and beautiful, it also possesses unpredictable and infinite dimensions. The metaphors of death and peace (drowning) are strongly present within this work; these mythological concepts simultaneously raise longing and fear in most of us. I have attempted to catch the atmosphere and sonic image of an ocean by constructing a soundscape that imitates the noises of the sea, whilst at the same time reflecting the same idea within the lyrics.
