Risukimppu

Brushwood for Solo Bassoon, Brushwood
Description
"Brushwood" (1999) is a short, monolithic and virtuosic work for solo bassoon. Due to the notation by seconds, not bars, the performer is left a quite considerable freedom for his or her personal agogic interpretation of rhythms and metrical units. This largely used notation method also reduces unnecessary complexity of the rhythmic outlook of the score with complex tuplets and constantly changing meters. In the composing process of this piece it was very important to me to consider the parameter of speed - and thus rhythm - as equally diverse and interesting as pitch, harmony and timbral aspects of sound. This kind of conscious change in the way of my thinking can be also seen in "Tubicine" for solo trombone, which is closely related to "Brushwood".

"Risukimppu" (1999) on lyhyt, monoliittinen ja virtuoottinen teos soolofagotille. Sekuntinotaation ansiosta soittajalle jää suurehko vapaus rytmien agogisiin tulkintoihin.
