Rarerare
for sinfonietta and child audience
Description
Rarerare is a spatial piece for sinfonietta and audience consisting of children taking part in the performance. The children play instruments designed by musician and maker of musical instruments, Mikko Perkoila. The instruments include rarerare (a bamboo stick with a crackling sound), a plastic straw ocarina, a camera film container oboe, a Pringles-package bass and all kinds of rattles. They are built by the children of recycled materials. The work was first performed at Helsinki Music Centre by Tapiola Sinfonietta and over 1000 children.
