Oil Rig
Description
This work is based on the BBC field recordings from an oil rig in the Forties Oil Fields in 1976. British Petroleum started production in 1975 in this oil field that
remains the largest one in the North Sea to date.
The sounds of the oil rig, the workers and the sea meet the piano and objects reacting to these sounds and also replicating them.
The genre of this work is somewhere between a composition and a sound installation. Both the written part for the piano and the arrangement of the numerous field recordings balance somewhere between sound as an active event and sound as an environment.
