”... mutta tämähän on maisema, monsieur Dali!”

Description

”…mutta tämähän on maisema, monsieur Dali!” (“…but this is a landscape, monsieur Dali!”) was preceded by a silence of almost ten years in Meriläinen’s orchestral output. It reveals the striving manifest in his later works to achieve the delicate poetry of small gestures. In this case the gestures are long, soft sounds and a texture reduced in places to points.

Teosta ”...mutta tämähän on maisema, monsieur Dali!” edelsi Meriläisen orkesterituotannossa lähes kymmenen vuoden tauko. Teos ilmentää Meriläisen myöhemmässä tuotannossa keskeistä pyrkimystä hakeutua kohti pienten eleiden herkkää runoutta. Tässä tapauksessa näitä eleitä ovat hiljaiset pitkät äänet ja paikoin pistemäisen ohueksi pelkistyvä kudos.
