ミンツク

for voice and piano

Description

Min-tsuku (ミンツク) is a mini art song cycle about two species of Japanese cicadas on a hot summer day. In the first movement, a min-min-zemi (ミンミンゼミ) is sitting on a tree and singing. Feeling a bit lonely, it decides to seek out some friends. In the second movement, a tsuku-tsuku-bōshi (ツクツクボウシ) is enjoying some food. It too begins to feel lonely and decides to look for some company. In the final movement, the two cicadas bump into each other and start a fight. However, they soon realize that, despite looking and sounding a bit different, they are both cicadas. They then come together and sing as friends: "min-tsuku, min-tsuku". TR, 2024
