Le chant de l'espace
by Ernest Pingoud
Avaruuden laulu, Rymdens sång, Chant de l'espace
Description
Le chant de l’espace is the closing work of a trilogy, the previous works being Cor ardens (1927) and Narcisse (1930). It is, in its universal theme, typical of Pingoud, but stylistically it represents slightly less complex ideals than those expressed in his most modernistic works of the late 1910s and early 1920s. The most distinctive episodes are the march-like ones and the fanfares associated with Bruckner and Mahler, but the work also has an impressionistic lucidity and a touch of romanticism reminiscent of Rimsky-Korsakov.
