La Safari de la Muerte/Le Safari de la Mort was inspired by Jean Tinguely´s sculpture of the same name. The composition reflects the squeaky and high accompanying soundscape produced by the sculpture, as well as the spooky atmosphere of this particular artwork. The focal point of the sonic material of the composition is an exploration of the resonances and timbral characteristics of the solo flute. The work was first performed by flutist and composer Jeff Brown, who is a long-term friend of the composer, and to whom the work has been dedicated.
