Description

A work in five movements akin to a sonata, modernistic in sound yet resting on tradition. (I, too, have a picture of Beethoven on my piano.)

The two-theme first movement is in a sort of open sonata form in which the development leads after the exposition in a different direction, but there is no traditional recapitulation. Next come three little movements: a Larghetto, a mobile scherzo-like movement and a slow intermezzo. The finale is a quick toccata-like rondo that ends with a retreating, dying coda.

kuvia, heijastuksia on viisiosainen sonaatinsukuinen kappale. Teos on soinniltaan modernistinen, mutta samalla se nojaa perinteeseen. (Minullakin on Beethovenin kuva pianon päällä.)

Kaksiteemainen ensiosa on eräänlainen sulkeutumaton sonaattimuoto, jossa kehittely johtaa esittelyn jälkeen toisaalle, pois, mutta perinteistä kertausjaksoa ei tule. Seuraa kolme pientä osaa: Larghetto, liikkuva scherzomainen osa sekä hidas intermezzo. Finaali on nopea toccatamainen rondo, jonka päättää etääntyvä, hiljenevä coda.
