Kullervo Clusters

by Perttu Haapanen

Completely recompose in 2016

for mixed choir

Description

Kullervo Clusters is a musical rendering of mythical, sosiological and linguistic aspects related to the original story which together form a "Kullervo cluster".

Finnish texts are derived from the 36th Rune of Kalevala. English texts (excluding the fragments describing the plot) are derived from several sources (recent news flashes, movie reviews etc.) associated with general aspects of the story of Kullervo.

Finnish words have been re-organised into an alphabetical order and grouped according to alliteration and length.

Strict alphabetical ordering against the plot of the original story, combinations with English texts and the extraordinary long suffix chains of Finnish language reveal a new face of Kullervo.
