In fact my concerto for french horn and chamber orchestra has only three movements, fast-slow-fast in the traditional way. The purpose of the Intermezzi is to let the soloist take a break and restore the blood circulation of his lips. Alla polacca = the orchestra plays a polonnaise rhythm in the background of the latter part of the movement. All’ungherese = in Hungarian style: the melody has a lot of typical Hungarian short-long rhythms. The latter Intermezzo is a foxtrot. This may be typical of my aspiration to write a kind of concert music, which would cross the traditional stylistic barriers in music. [...]

Konserttoni käyrätorvelle ja kamariorkesterille on itse asiassa kolmiosainen ja perinteiseen tapaan nopea-hidas-nopea. Intermezzojen eli välisoittojen aikana solisti saa levätä ja antaa huuliensa verenkierron palautua. Alla polacca = puolalaisittain: orkesterissa soi osan jälkipuolella poloneesi. All’ungherese = unkarilaisittain: melodiassa on runsaasti unkarilaistyyppisiä lyhyt-pitkiä rytmejä. Jälkimmäinen Intermezzo on foxtrot. Ehkä tämä on leimallista pyrkimykselleni tehdä sellaista konserttimusiikkia, joka ylittelee musiikin perinteisiä raja-aitoja. [...]
