kivenpiirto

kitarakvartetille
Description
Written in 1999, kivenpiirto is a musical rune stone made up of sounds. In addition to the archaic imagery it was mainly inspired by the multi-coloured sound world of a guitar quartet: having four guitars makes it possible to combine sounds with different timbres that are beyond the reach of one or even two guitars. The work is in five stages. These are not independent movements and are played without a break: Preludio, Chorale, Danza, Canto and Coda. The middle movements are sound traces, fragmentary, brittle relics of ancient songs and dances.
kivenpiirto was commissioned by the Corona Guitar Quartet from Denmark.

kivenpiirto (1999) on äänistä muotoutunut musiikillinen riimukivi.
Teos on tanskalaisen Corona Guitar Quartetin tilaus.
