Description

A wedding present for Tuija Lustig and Kimmo Koskinen, who were members of the Savolaisen Osakunnan Laulajat student choir at the same time as I was. This work was not performed at the wedding,and it remained in my desk drawer until Sulasol published it together with the rest of my ‘back catalogue’ ten years later.

Hauen laulu (Song of the pike) is a relatively simple miniature with a touch of Gesualdo. It is deliberately melancholy, and it is not intended to be parodic or any more absurd than Hellaakoski’s text is in itself.

Häälahja Tuija Lustigille ja Kimmo Koskiselle, jotka olivat Savolaisen Osakunnan Laulajissa samoihin aikoihin kuin minäkin. Teosta ei esitetty häissä, ja niinpä se jäi pölyttymään kunnes Sulasol julkaisi sen muun pöytälaatikkotuotantoni mukana lähes kymmenen vuotta myöhemmin.

Hauen laulu on suhteellisen yksinkertainen miniatyyri, jossa on häivähdys Gesualdoa. Se on tarkoituksella hieman surumielinen, eikä sitä ole tarkoitettu parodiseksi tai sen absurdimmaksi kuin mitä Hellaakosken teksti jo itsessään on.
