Description
Written for the Suvisoitto (Summer Sounds) music festival, organised at Porvoo each year by the Avanti! Chamber Orchestra, Fanfare is a circumstantial piece, written in three days during preparatory work for Kinetics. [...] He described the genesis of Fanfare to the local press as follows: "The fanfare was ready at 6 o'clock this morning [the day of first performance]. I wrote it during lunches and dinners, using a harmonic field from the orchestral piece I am working on.

(From Magnus Lindberg, Helsinki 1996)
