Fantazia in G

Description
The Fantazia in G is my second work for viola da gamba and a tribute to the work of Henry Purcell, a colleague who has had a deep influence on me. The orthography of the title thus follows the example of Purcell. Again in keeping with Purcell's example, the piece covers various tempos and musical moods, but because I am a much simpler soul than the English master, I have arranged the tempos in a steadily accelerating series.

Fantazia in G on jo toinen sävellykseni viola da gamballe. Se on kunnianosoitus minuun syvästi vaikuttaneen kollegan Henry Purcellin työlle. Sanan fantasia oikeikirjoitus noudattaa siksi Purcellin esimerkkiä. Purcellin esimerkin mukaisesti kappale sisältää erilaisia tempoja ja musiikillisia ilmeitä, mutta koska olen tuota englantilaista mestaria huomattavasti yksinkertaisempi sielu, olen järjestänyt tempot alati kiihtyväksi sarjaksi.
