En sourdine
for soprano and viola
Description
En sourdine is a lyrical duet between the soprano and viola. The work is in three parts:a solo viola prelude, the song and a short codetta. This piece was a commission from Jennifer Coumbe to commemorate the 95th anniversary of Charles Richardson’s birth. Mr. Richardson’s all consuming interest was music, but he was also fascinated by the natural world. The chosen text reflects his love of nature, but also Jenny’s love of birds.
