Delirium Nocturnum

by Tomi Räisänen

for orchestra

Description

'Delirium Nocturnum' is a chaotic journey marked by rapidly changing situations that often follow incomprehensible logic. The piece explores themes of restless sleep and nocturnal delusions, which may be caused by fever or perhaps an excessive consumption of wine. The moods fluctuate between joy and haunting nightmares, with imaginary landscapes shifting between paradise and purgatory. In this state of delirium, pink elephants and gnomes might be seen dancing in peculiar ways. TR, 2006
