Confessions
by Ernest Pingoud
Fragments symphoniques pour Grand Orchestra
Description
Confessions was, like Prologue, inspired by the same poem by Baudelaire, La voix. Stylistically the works also represent a similar combination of late Romantic style and the colourful impressionism associated with Debussy. Scored for large orchestra, Confessions, subtitled 'symphonic fragments', is in four movements, the first three being performed without a break.

Confessions on saanut sitä edeltävän Prologuen tavoin innoituksensa Charles Baudelairen runoudesta, vieläpä samasta Fleurs de mal -kokoelman runosta La voix. Myös tyylillisesti teokset edustavat samantapaista, uhkeata myöhäisromantiikkaa ja Debussyn mieleen tuovaa värikylläistä impressionismia yhdistävää ajattelua. Suurelle orkesterille sävelletty Confessions - alaotsikoltaan "sinfonisia fragmentteja - on neljästä osasta rakentuva kokonaisuus, jossa kolme ensimmäistä osaa liittyvät tauoitta yhteen.
