Colloquial Speech

Music Finland

Description

The main idea of this improvisation is based on the relation between music and language. The history of music tells us that the spoken sound and the sung sound were born simultaneously. We sing when we speak and we speak when we sing. Colloquial Speech is the music of a very usual conversation (formal or not), some kind of a party-, after-work- or dinner-conversation. There are three indispensable elements of any conversational onflow - a pulse, a pitch-level-continuum and many short dialogues (with their frequent configuration as monologue!) which inform through narrow range melodic cells. The expression level of the music of speech demands a simple, unofficial and pleasant way of performance. The music of Colloquial Speech informs rather than convinces, entertains rather than motivates.
