Celestifilia

by Maria Kallionpää

for piano, midi keyboard and electronics

Description

“Celestifilia” is a multi-instrument composition for one pianist. The work was inspired by the aesthetic ideas of Karlheinz Stockhausen (such as, for example, microtonal experimentation and open form techniques) and his interest in the stars and planets. The two versions of the composition differ: whereas the first version mainly leans on the possibilities of tuning alterations, the second version has a more flamboyant, futuristic, and electronic character. “Celestifilia” was first performed at the Sibelius Museum in Turku, Finland in December 2012.
