Description

Aton, op. 49 (1959), is based on the ancient Egyptian Hymn to the Sun by the pharaoh Akhenoton. Throughout its five movements (Aton, Day, Night, Creation and You only are God) hommage is paid to the sun as one and only god using an expressive musical language where soloists and choir alternate and relieve each another in a continuing narrative. The solo instruments in the orchestra ore used to highlight the musical expression while rhythmic motives give profile to the compositionol material. The choral resources ore distributed into singing and speaking choirs. The composition was commissioned by the Svensko Oratorieföreningen (Swedish Oratorio Association in Finland) for as 40th Anniversary and was premiered in Helsinki April 29, 1960.

Aton, op. 49 (1959) gründet sich auf die alt-Egyptische Sonnenhymne von Pharao Echnaton. In den Fünf Sätzen (Aton, Tag, Nacht, Die Schöpfung, Du einziger Gott) wird die Sonne in einer expressiven Tonsprache als einziger Gott verehrt, wobei sich Solisten und Chor abwechseln. Soloinstrumente im Orchester unterstreichen die Expressivitüt, während rhythmische Motive dem Tonmaterial Profil verleihen. Die Chorpartien sind in Gesang- und Sprechchor-abschnitte aufgeteilt. Die Komposition ist ein Auftragswerk Für das 40-jährige Jubiläum des Schwedischen Oratorienvereins in Finnland (Svenska Oratorieföreningen) und wurde am 29.4.1960 in Helsinki uraufgeführt.

Soloinstrument i orkestern understryker expressivitefen och rytmiska motiv ger profil åt tonmaterialet. Körpartierna fördelas på sång och talkör. Kompositionen är ett beställningsverk för Svenska Oratorieföreningens 40års jubileum och uruppfördes i Helsingfors 29.4.1960.
