An Essay on the American Topography
by Stephen Webb
for harp and tape
Description
The tape part is built from two early jazz pieces dating from 1920's Chicago; a piano suite by cornettist Bix Beiderbeck and Virgina Liston's Titanic Blues. The harp reminisces a bygone era while the tape intersperses Virginia Liston’s fateful lyrics about the Titanic. Together, they coalesce to create a sonic watery shroud.
