The topic of this work is elevation. The work can be performed either as part of a communion, or as a separate concert piece.In addition to the liturgical context, the name refers to a way in which different (latent) lines of force are elevated in the work to the foreground, forming diagonal/oblique objects that are boarderless in nature. Sometimes it is impossible to pinpoint a particular moment in which a structure or object begins or ends.An important energy line in the work is Leonin's adaptation of Alleluia Pascha nostrum, an organum duplum in the style of the so-called Notre Dame School. The idea of using this composition as a material came to me during the Eastern time in 2019, while the historical church of Notre Dame in Paris was damaged in a fire. The famous Cavaillé-Coll-organ of the church was apparently saved – quite miraculously. Hence, the name of the work can also be seen referring to the reconstruction/re-elevation of the church.The work was originally composed for organist Olli Pyylampi, who first premiered it with the Cavaillé-Coll type organ in Kallio Church. It can, however, be performed with any type of organ with three or more manuals (with necessary adaptions). After the premiere, some small changes has been made to the score; for instance, some details has been brought back from earlier versions. In this sense, also the life-cycle of the work reflects the reconstruction process of the Notre Dame church. Jan Lehtola first performed the new, revised version in September 2022 at the St. Paul's Church in Helsinki.The work is written with support from the Kirkkomusiikin säveltäjät society and The Church Council, and it is dedicated to Anna & Jyrki Linjama on their 30th Anniversary, 8th of July 2019.Matti Heininen 2022
