<p>Erik Bergman dived into many different styles until arriving at a personal idiom, in which tone colours and the search for new expressive means played an important role. He had a deep interest in distant cultures and was untiring in his search for the new.</p> <p>Bergman composed big orchestra works and solo concertos, but the human voice never ceased to fascinate him. Choral music stands out in his output, and he regarded his opera as a synthesis of the various techniques employed over the years.</p>
