<p>Veli-Matti Puumala has valued the ideals of Modernism throughout his career, but his music contains a multitude of elements. It has been described as having a strong dynamic charge and tension, a complex fabric bristling with activity.</p> <p>He has composed chamber music as well as works for symphony orchestra, solo concertos and opera. His piano concerto Seeds of Time got the Finnish Teosto prize in 2005. Since 2005 Veli-Matti Puumala has been Professor of composition at the Sibelius Academy.</p>
