The most essential characteristics of Matti Murto’s music are free-tonality, lyricism, neo-romantic expressiveness, and melodiousness based on traditional Finnish music. Murto has a strong background in music education, having worked as a teacher and as a principal in several music institutes. He is also the managing director of sheet music publishing company Modus Musiikki which he has founded in 1987.
