“It would be dangerous to think that there is no longer a need to carry the tradition forward. [...] That’s why I want to be a Modernist, and novelty is an important value for me,” says Lauri Kilpiö. He is also an active performer of contemporary music on the piano. His output contains a fair amount of piano music but also pieces for other keyboard instruments, such as the organ and the clavichord. Beyond that, he has written music in a number of genres, from choral works to a viola concerto.
