<p>Pekka Jalkanen first became known as a composer of children's music fo radio and TV, but went on to compose a broad output reaching from vocal and choral music to chamber music and solo pieces, also for instruments like kantele and decacorde.</p> <p>Stylistically he has been strongly influenced by minimalism and has a strong interest in folk music and particularly in the music of the Roma people. He is also well-known as a musicologist.</p>
