<p>Asta Hyvärinen has depicted her compositional style as surrealistic-cubistic, using structures based on subconscious processes and sonic details appearing as cubistic. She has described her works representing some kind of cross sections of a disintegrating world. Another term she uses to describe her style is 'whole tonality', implying equal treatment of all the sounding material.</p><p>Most of her broad output is composed from 2000 onwards and it has been noticed in several competitions.</p>
