<p>Olli Virtaperko never ceases to surprise the listener, his output reaching from large-scale orchestra works and atonal music to folk-oriented music or canons. He cultivates different styles, saying he decides about genre and then seldom mixes things. </p> <p>He collaborates closely with musicians, himself having experience with playing Baroque cello and viol as well as singing in a rock band. Andrew Mellor has described his music as “always more acute than vague, more hard-nosed than misty-eyed”.</p>
