Jovanka Trbojevic
Born in Yugoslavia, Jovanka Trbojevic lived in Finland since 1986. After the composition studies at the Sibelius Academy she wrote dozens of chamber works, orchestral music as well as operas, film and television music and a Prix Italia winning radiophonic work CreationGame. Trbojevic’s works often combine different stylistic elements and distort the traditional soundscape by introducing new ways of singing or playing. The Opera Absurdium, a stand-up opera drawing on the composer’s own tragicomical experiences with an earlier commision, was premiered at Time of Music festival in Viitasaari in 2014 and attracted much interest in the Finnish media.
