Description

Veno is practically the Finnish word for (rowing) boat, but this form of the word sounds old-fashioned and refers to Kalevala, the national epic. When composing the work I had a sort of barcarole in mind, although I wasn't in this case too interested in the speed of boating. I was rather thinking of the sounds of water against the sides of the boat and recalling the feeling of lying in the bows and hearing the rushing water just next to one's ear. Veno is written for Cattrall ensemble.
