Description

"Romer's Gap was composed between August 2015 and March 2016 at the heart of Kallio, Helsinki. Devoting to full-time composing was made possible by the generous support of the Arts Promotion Centre Finland. The sound processing equipment was extremely kindly given at my disposal by ms. Eija Kankaanranta. Thank you, patrons!" (O.V. March 2016)


This version was scored for the available forces of the Jyväskylä premiere – a classical chamber orchestra with few additional instruments.

Premiere

Perttu Kivilaakso (amplified cello) and Ville Matvejeff (conductor) premiered the concerto on August 11, 2016 at Turku Concert Hall with Turku Filharmonic Orchestra and on September 7, 2016 at Jyväskylä Theathre with Jyväskylä Sinfonia.


Commisioned by / dedications

Romer's Gap was a joint commission by Turku Music Festival and Jyväskylä Sinfonia in 2015.
