Description

[...] Oshidori, which means mandarin duck, symbolizes in old Japanese popular belief marital affection. The story is about a hunter who shoots the male bird of an oshidori couple, the female’s grief which appears in his nightmare, the lonely oshidori’s ‘harakiri’ with its beak, and finally how the hunter atones for his crime by becoming a priest.
