March

Music Finland

Description

"March" is the last work completed in the series of compositions which got the names of all the months of the year. Much of the loudsounding aggressive orchestral fightings and fanfaric expressions were notated inspired by the marching spirits Holst chose for this music to depict the planet Mars. Perhaps the music also contains subjective therapeutic outbursts in musical materials which were motivated by fantasies and flashbacks from feelings connected with my own birthstruggles which 2.3.1944 threw me out into a world of war. Perhaps between the lines there is also something suggesting that our life is a continuous battle, visualised by the musicgladiators on the stagestadium performing their attackings and retraits freepulsatively without a conductor.
